We know the races are postponed if the weather turns, but what happens to your travel plans?

I've seen notices that ferries and flights are sometimes cancelled due to poor weather conditions. If you're departure is delayed, how did you find a place to stay? Do they give you a bit of notice, or are you told when you arrive? Are you guaranteed a spot on the next ride out?
